Our People

Our Family

John and Carrie Morgridge co-founded MFF in 2008 with an entrepreneurial approach to philanthropy and a hands-on style of leadership. Before MFF, John and Carrie were partners in business ventures, athletic pursuits, marriage, and parenthood. They ensure that the foundation does great work while creating a positive, empowering culture.

John and Carrie are avid athletes. In 2017, they spent 46 days biking the 2,774-mile Great Divide Mountain Bike Route from Canada to Mexico. Between the two of them, they have completed 17 Ironmans and in a typical season they each ski more than a million vertical feet. It is not unusual for them to invite partners for a brainstorming session over a hike, bike ride, chairlift conference, or beach walk. They split their time between Montana, Colorado and Florida.

Michelle Morgridge, Director and Program Officer
Nate Angell, Program Officer

Michelle and Nate focus on building and strengthening community with their strategic funding decisions and volunteer service. While Michelle is committed to building relationships between people and their natural environments, Nate enters spaces looking for opportunities to learn and grow, while asking probing questions and providing insight when possible. As dedicated parents, they work hard to instill values of humility and community, along with a spirit of adventure, in their two sons.

Hillary Morgridge, Program Officer

John and Hillary both bring financial background and a strong analytical mindset to their philanthropy and board service. They are “making childhood magical” through their work and their parenting of two toddlers. Hillary is a CPA in Colorado and runs her own accounting firm serving nonprofit clients. John is an avid athlete and has published three children’s books (so far) in a series designed to teach social-emotional skills to kids and their families. Hillary loves nature and is chipping away at her goal to hike in every national park in the United States.
